Mount Qingyuan is located in the northern suburbs of Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China. It is a national scenic area.
Mount Qingyuan is rich in both natural and cultural resources. It combines stone carvings and sculptures, maritime trade history, religion, and traditional architecture with beautiful natural scenery such as unique rocks, springs, waterfalls, and forests. It is a valuable natural and cultural heritage site.
The Laojun Rock (also known as Yuxian Rock) features a stone statue of Taishang Laojun, the founder of Taoism. It is the largest existing Taoist stone statue from the Song Dynasty in China. The statue is a typical example of religious carvings from the Song and Yuan periods on Mount Qingyuan. It reflects the prosperity of Quanzhou during the height of the Maritime Silk Road and shows the city’s long tradition of cultural diversity.
