The Luonü Temple is located by the Min River in Zhouwei Village, Luozhou Town, Cangshan District, Fuzhou, Fujian Province. The existing building is a small wooden temple with a floor area of 34 square meters. In front of the temple stands an ancient banyan tree with a trunk circumference of 7.6 meters.
The famous folk tale The Snail Girl originated in Zhouwei Village, Luozhou Town, Cangshan District. To honor the Snail Girl, later generations built a temple dedicated to her. This is the only Luonü Temple that was first built in the Tang Dynasty and has been preserved to this day. Today, the temple is still actively visited and well worshipped.
