Chengxin Tower (also called Dingxin Tower) is located in a residential courtyard at No. 69 Jinting Lane, Licheng District, Quanzhou, Fujian Province. It was first built during the Ming Dynasty (1573-1620) and rebuilt in 1749 during the Qianlong reignof the Qing Dynasty.
The tower is an octagonal, five-story brick pavilion-style structure, about 4.5 meters tall. It is named for its location at the geographic center of the old city of Quanzhou. Traditionally, it was believed to mark the city’s center and protect the city from evil. The tower is built of red bricks and covered with white plaster.
