Gudie Xieyang

"Gudie Xieyang" (Ancient Battlements in the Setting Sun) is the signature landmark of Fuzhou's West Lake Park.

The scene is centered around a cluster of buildings modeled after traditional courtyard residences of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Prominently displayed upon a replica of an ancient city wall are the four characters that give the site its name.

This view has been immortalized in the poetry of historical men of letters, including the celebrated Xin Qiji and Cai Xiang. It is a place that holds a thousand years of Fuzhou's stories, and the silent romance of its timeless landscape.
