Lian Village, Fu’an

Lian Village in Fu’an is a renowned Tang Dynasty village of imperial scholars in eastern Fujian, flourishing with literary culture a thousand years ago, preserving intact Tang official road, scholar ancestral halls, thousand-year bluestone wells and rows of rammed-earth dwellings. 

A giant ancient banyan and stone archway stand at the village entrance, while ancestral hall gateways hang plaques recording ancient academic honors, with stone paths connecting wells and houses to retain traditional farming-scholar lifestyles. 

Secluded from crowded scenic spots with few tourists, surrounded by mountains, farmland and winding brooks, wandering alleys lets visitors absorb millennial imperial examination heritage, with mountain breezes relieving boredom for slow soothing leisure in this off-the-beaten-path eastern Fujian cultural site.
