Fujian tulou is a unique traditional residential building in southern Fujian Province, mainly distributed in Zhangzhou, Longyan, Quanzhou and other places. They are known for their unique round or square structures, which have both defensive and residential functions, and are a symbol of Hakka culture. Tulou walls are thick, made of earth, stone, bamboo and wood materials, the interior is usually divided into multiple layers, the center of the ancestral hall or courtyard, housing, defense, worship in one. The famous tulou buildings include Chengqi Tower and Zhencheng Tower in Yongding and Tianluokeng Earth building group in Nanjing. In 2008, Fujian tulou was inscribed on the World Heritage List, becoming an important resource for the study of Hakka culture and architectural art. Today, they are not only tourist attractions, but also treasures of traditional Chinese architecture.
