Fujian and the Republic of Karelia Mark 5th Anniversary of Sister Relationship


A video conference was held in Fuzhou and Petrozavodsk on June 28 to celebrate the 5th anniversary of sister relationship between Fujian and the Republic of Karelia of Russia. Guo Ningning, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Executive Vice Governor, and Vladimir Timofeev, Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia, addressed the event. Leaders of relevant government departments and business representatives from both sides attended the meeting, and witnessed the signing of MOU on the establishment of Silk Road partnership and products procurement deal between both sides.

 

Guo Ningning took stock of the progress both had made in exchanges and cooperation in various fields over the past years, and called for further efforts to expand cooperation and make the partnership a highlight of China-Russia cooperation at the subnational level. She proposed deepening practical cooperation in trade, strengthening trade and investment promotion, and advancing exchanges in sports, culture, and heritage protection and people-to-people ties.

 

 

Timofeev noted the solid foundation for cooperation between the two sides, and said that the signing of the cooperation agreements will take the partnership to a new level. He hoped that both sides will intensify international business cooperation to move up the industrial and supply chains.
