There is an old saying：“One who is alone in a foreign land, he misses his family at every festival.”Japanese Chinese teen Fuyuan Xiangtaiwas greatly influenced by the stories of the hometown Fuzhou told by his parents.

古语有曰“身在异乡为异客，每逢佳节倍思亲。”日本籍华裔青少年福原翔太经常听父母讲起家乡福州的故事，这些故事深深地影响着他。

In his work, the “dragon boat”and “rice dumpling(Zongzi) represent the approaching Dragon Boat Festival and his homesickness. In the meaningful festival, people can tell that Shota can’t end his memory of the beautiful scenery of mountains and rivers , the Gourmet and family in the“hometown”.

在他画作中的“龙舟”和“粽子”既代表了即将要到来的端午节和表达着他的思乡之情。在如此具有特殊纪念意义的节日里，感受到倍感想念“故乡”的山河美景、“故乡”的美食以及“故乡”的家人。

Besides, in the work, Shota blended the characteristic of Fuzhou and traditional Chinese festival so as to express the generation of his father’s missing to hometown, using elements like White Tower, Zhenhai Tower, Jasmine tea, etc. Meanwhile, it represents overseas Chinese teenagers passion and longing for Fuzhou City.

另外，他在作品中将福州的特色与中国传统节日相结合，用白塔、镇海楼、茉莉花等元素，表达出了父辈们对于家乡的思念之情，同时，也表达了作为在海外生活的华裔青少年对于福州的热爱与向往。

The 5th “Impression·Fuzhou” Competition for Overseas Chinese Teenagers is started, covering the range of painting and calligraphy, writing, photography, Mandarin speech contest. Therefore, we are calling for entries, and the deadline for work collection is September, 2022. We would like to invite all overseas Chinese teenagers to put thought and emotions into your painting, and to express the unforgettable“Homesickness”in your way!
