Ukraine's GDP falls 29.1 pct in 2022: official

KIEV, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian economy shrank a record 29.1 percent last year due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, according to the figures released by the State Statistic Service on Thursday.

In the fourth quarter of 2022, the country's real gross domestic product (GDP) fell 31.4 percent year on year, after contracting 30.6 percent in July-September, the statistical agency said in a report.

The GDP decreased by 36.9 percent and 14.9 percent respectively in the second and the first quarters of 2022, it said.

Last year, the Ukrainian economy suffered a 67.6-percent decline in the construction sector and a 43.1-percent contraction in the manufacturing output.

The mining and quarrying industries fell by 32.2 percent in 2022, while agriculture, forestry and fishing declined by 28.4 percent.

The Ukrainian economy saw a 3.4-percent growth in 2021.
