KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's Industrial Production Index (IPI) increased 4.1 percent in May as compared to the same month of the previous year, official data showed Friday.
The expansion of IPI was contributed by the manufacturing and electricity sectors, which recorded increases of 6.9 percent and 2.8 percent respectively, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement.
On a month-on-month basis, the IPI deteriorated by 1 percent as a result of the fall in manufacturing and mining components.
