NEW DELHI, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The rate of unemployment in India rose to 8.3 percent in August, from 6.8 percent in July, showed the data released by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy on Thursday.
Rainfall during the sowing season in most parts of the country is being cited as one of the major reasons for the increase in unemployment rate in the country.
According to the data, overall employment in the country fell from 397 million to 394.6 million in August.
