The gardenia flower as the municipal flower has received national geographical identification mark“Fuding Gardenia Flowers” 

福鼎市种植黄栀子历史悠久，有“中国栀子名市”之称，是国内栀子原料林面积最大、产量最多的栀子产区和栀子果交易集散地。作为市花的栀子花更取得“福鼎栀子花”国家地理标志证明商标。

Nowadays, there are over 60 thousand mu of gardenia planting, in which there are more than 60 thousand tons of flowers in annual production and fresh fruits. The output of gardenia takes up almost 80% of the country’s gardenia market shares, and helps more than 60 thousand people engaged in gardenia planting or process. The industry chain brought the annual value of almost 1 billion yuan.  

目前，福鼎市栀子种植面积6万多亩，年产鲜花、鲜果6万多吨，栀子产量占全国栀子市场份额近八成，带动全市6万多人从事栀子种植或加工，全产业链年产值近10亿元。
