Gezai Opera Had the First Performance after Its”2nd Revision”歌仔戏《侨批》“二改”后首演

Fujian Daily report on May 12th.(reporter Lin Zegui report/photo) In the evening of May 10th, Gezaixi <Overseas Chinese Reps> was firstly performed in Minnan Theater of Xiamen, after its “second revision”(see the photo above). The opera is based on a big-scale original play and rehearsed by Xiamen Gezai Opera Research and Study Center (Xiamen Gezai Opera Troupe). The show after the “2^ndrevision”is regarded as a large-scale opera performance and the output of a subsidized work, and now it’s time to hear feedback from the public.

【5月12日】本报讯 （记者 林泽贵 文/图） 10日晚，歌仔戏《侨批》在厦门闽南大戏院迎来了“二改”后的首演（上图）。由厦门歌仔戏研习中心排演的这部大型原创剧目，以其作为国家艺术基金2020年度大型舞台剧和作品滚动资助项目的“二改”成果，再度接受各方检验。

In Minnan dialect(Hakka dialect), the Chinese character “批（pi）”refers to “letter(s)“, and the “侨批（qiao pi）”(letter of homesickness from Overseas Chinese) is the first program of Fujian Province included on the  Documentation in World Heritage Conservation, and on <Memory of the World Programme (MoW)> in 2013. As a famous opera playwright, Zeng Xuewen narrated in <Qiao Pi> , the third work of the “Three Episodes of Gezai Opera”, that a history of overseas Chinese who went abroad to start business and is filled with passion for China. The opera is directed by Han Jianying, the famous director of China Pingju Opera Theater.

在闽南语中，“批”指的是信件。“侨批”是我省首个入选世界文献遗产的项目，于2013年成功入选《世界记忆名录》。作为著名剧作家曾学文“歌仔戏三部曲”的第三部作品，《侨批》讲述了一段华侨华人远渡重洋的创业史，充满了家国情怀。该剧由中国评剧院著名导演韩剑英执导。
