Chinese Research Team Discovers New Ichthyosaur Fossil: A 3m-long Marine Reptile with Simple and Honest look, Strong Swimmer

A team of research led by Han Fenlu,associate professor of the School of Earch Sciences at the China Unversity of Geosciences in Wuhan, announced the discovery of a 250 millon-year-old fossil of an early Triassic ichthyosaur from Baise,South china’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,according to an online statement by the university.

记者从中国地质大学(武汉)获悉,该校地球科学学院韩凤禄副教授率领的团队宣布发现一具约2.5亿年前、来自广西壮族自治区百色市的早三叠世鱼龙化石。

The reptile was about 3 meters long, looking good-natured. It is believed to have been a strong swimmer.As a new breed, the reptile is named “Baisesaurus robustus”.The research results have been published in the prestrigious international biology Joural PeerJ,according to the statement.

该鱼龙长达3米、外形憨萌,可能具有更强的游泳能力。作为一个新属种,被命名为“粗壮百色鱼龙”。相关研究成果近日已在国际生物学期刊《同行评议科学杂志》(PeerJ)在线发表。
